March Madness

What is so great about March?  MY BIRTHDAY, of course!  Thanks to my amazing parents, my birthday has always been a very special day, one that I look forward to all year.  So now I am the big 30, I remember when that seemed so old, ha ha!  This year I had to work on my birthday, which was kind of a bummer, but it was nice that Kenny was able to keep the kids so I didn't have to find a babysitter.  The best part was coming home to a "SURPRISE", and lots of balloons!  While I was gone, Kenny took the kids shopping, they got me a bunch of balloons and sugar-free candy; plus, they each picked out a gift for me . . . so cute!  I truly am blessed - what an awesome family!

Lucy got me some black diamond earings (with the help of her dad), and Stetson picked this present out on his own . . .

The best birthday gift ever!

Yup, this is a squishy green lizard, just what every mother needs, right?  I actually jumped when I opened the package and saw it laying there, but Stetson was so excited!  The first thing he said was, "mom, would it be alright if I played with this for awhile?"  Too cute!

We took a walk and played at the park, where the infamous lizard got buried in the sand, went down the slide, just about got one of his legs pulled off, and even got ran over by the stroller . . . it was fun!

That evening we invited all of my family over for pizza and games, complete with cake and ice cream.  Thanks so much everyone for coming, and for the wonderful gifts!

What I really wanted to do for my birthday was take the kids for a horseback ride and have a picnic, so the next day we drove up to Devil's Canyon, had a nice little picnic by Kenny's parents' new cabin, and rode around checking the ponds.  I was so proud of Stetson, he rode his horse Mater all by himself the whole time!  And Lucy was in heaven, riding with me on Cinnamon, and letting us know each time we came to a pond.  She also kept very good track of the dogs, and made sure all four of them were in sight at all times.  Thanks guys, I had a blast!
Just enjoyin' the ride
Another great thing about March is ST. PATTY'S DAY!  Green is one of my favorite colors, and since my mom is a wee bit Irish, this holiday has always held a special meaning.  I never had trouble finding green to wear, but could have gotten by without it 'cause my eyes are green - a trait that Stetson and I share.  His favorite color is green, so he was pretty excited to get a new green shirt to wear on this special day.
This shirt is PERFECT for him!!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
The great thing about spring is that, if you don't like the current weather, you just need to wait a few minutes and it will change!  Seriously, we have had some super nice days, and some pretty cold, miserable days.  My kids were so excited to get out their shorts and flip flops, and the next day we were back to pants and coats.  Though we would love to get some rain to fill the ponds and help the grass grow, we are looking forward to the warm days of summer!
Sporting the summer attire
The kids, especially Lucy, have been putting on our shoes and wearing them around the house.  On this morning, they wanted to be just like their daddy.
Ready to go to work!
Lucy loves to help in the kitchen, whether I am washing dishes or cooking, she wants to be right there, "helping".  I guess this day she really got into her work, washing herself along with the dishes.
Gotta' love the wet feet!
Stetson is loving preschool with Miss Lana.  He made this beautiful flower at preschool one day, and couldn't wait to "plant" it in my "garden".  What a sweet guy!
