Recent activities

Alot has happened since I last posted, and I just took a bunch of picture off my camera, so here goes:

I went with my sister McKady and her dance class to a competition - and they took first place!My brother Jade (left) competed in the ARL triathalon and took first place! My other brother Jens also competed on a team, and the team took first place! My awesome niece Brielle competed, and not only took first place, but broke the school record by over a minute! Way to go guys! My brother J.J. graduated from Seminary and High School. I didn't get any pictures of him, but I did get a photo of the cool lei (above) we made for him to wear. If you can't tell, it has cowboy hats and saddles on it - totally J.J.! My brother Jade also graduated from Middle School and, among other awards, got an award for the All-around boy from the 8th grade. My niece Brielle got the STUD award - how cool is that? It stands for Super Terrific Unusual Deed, which she achieved by winning the ARL Idol three years in a row!
For Memorial Day we had a cookout by our pond out at Westwater. We took the canoe, and Stetson got to go on is first canoe ride! We didn't tip over, but when my dad put my sister's kids, Paige and Zac, in the canoe - it tipped over! They, along with my sister McKady were soaking wet! They weren't real impressed. My nephew Zac, who is four years old, caught a big fish which he was very proud of. We had great food and a good time!It is baseball season, and my brother Jens is the pitcher for his team. I have had the privledge of watching a few of his games, and he is awsome! My sister McKady also plays softball, and she is pretty good herself!

Moving Pipe

Last Saturday we moved some wheel line sprinkler pipe from one field to another. You wouldn't think that it would be that big of a deal, but it was quite a process! We could only move three lines at a time, so you can imagine how long it took! Stetson was on hand to help out wherever he could. He can sit on his own for a few minutes at a time, but usully ends up reaching for something and falling over. I can't believe how fast he is growing! His little personality is coming out, and he is so much fun!

First Tooth!

Stetson's first tooth broke through today - Yay! It seems like he has been chewing on his fingers and drooling forever. Everyone kept telling me that he must be getting teeth, well three months later he finally did! I know this picture doesn't show the tooth, but it really is too small to see in a picture right now. After a rough start, Stetson is finally eating applesause. He eats it pretty well, except that he would rather feed himself than have me feed him. He keeps grabbing the spoon, so I usually get another spoon for him to play with while I feed him. But now he just grabs my spoon with the other hand - I guess I am going to have to get spoon number three.

Riding Horses

Well, Stetson was very sick on Wednesday. I didn't realize that a six month old baby could get the stomach flu, but apparently they can. It took a couple days, but he finally recovered. Actually I think the whole experience was harder on mom than it was on Stetson! On Saturday we branded some more calves at the Bullet Corral down on the winter range. Stetson went on his first horse ride with Grandpa Clark on our horse named Josh. He wasn't real impressed, but maybe that was just because Grandpa wouldn't let him drive.

I have to say that the highlight of the day, for me at least, was to have Karma Bennett there - riding her horse again! Just before Stetson was born Karma was riding up on the Bears Ears helping us gather our cows for shipping, and she had a terrible accident. The young horse she was riding got nervous and bucked her off. She broke her hip and dislocated her shoulder. Luckily Kenny was up there with her, and was able to get her into his truck (the process took about three hours). He drove up by the bears ear, where he had cell phone service, and called 911. Then he drove Karma down to the highway where they met the ambulance. Karma had to have surgery on her hip, and was in the hospital for several days. In just seven months she is able to walk without aid, and is even riding a horse again! The above photo shows Karma (center), riding with her daughter-in-law Michelle (left), and her granddaughter Tayia (right). The Bennetts have been helping on this ranch for a long time - we would not be where we are now without their help! Thanks Bennetts!!!
